Welcome!

I am excited to have you here! Welcome to a little internet corner dedicated to what’s happening in my 3/4 classroom, as well as the larger educational landscape.

I started teaching fresh out of college back in 2006. While I began as an English teacher, I eventually worked my way down into the elementary classroom because, well, I love every subject. I could not decide which thing I liked to teach the most, so I relished my time for a number of years in self-contained upper elementary classrooms. I’ve worked in public, independent, and international schools and appreciate the WIDE variety of standards, ideas, and philosophies this has taught me. I have also worked as a school administrator and at my state Agency of Education, but the classroom is the place I’m meant to be. I’m a Nittany Lion at heart, being from Pennsylvania and all, but I moved to Vermont soon after graduation and completed my Masters in Teaching at tiny Marlboro College. Today, I’m pretty sure I’m still a flatlander, but I love it here in New England. In 2021, I earned my certification as a National Board Certified Teacher, Middle Childhood Generalist.

This year, I’ll be starting my 15th year in the classroom in new school, working in a grade 3/4 multi-age classroom. In the rural area where I live, we don’t always get the option to departmentalize, so I teach all the academic subjects! I am also a mom to three boys, who span elementary and middle school.

I started my business, Red Clover Education, to share creative ideas with other teachers.

I believe that kids learn best when they are invested in their classroom communities. Through the use of engaging, hands-on activities, student-led routines, and high expectations for all, I see students learn so much, have fun, and take pride in their success. I hope to share some of what I do with others, and learn from you, too!

Do I sell my stuff? Sometimes! When it makes sense to produce something for other classrooms, you’ll see them featured here, and over on my TpT store, Red Clover Education. Mostly, though, I hope you can find great ideas that you can implement in your own classroom here.
